Kick ass! I always liked Miller's NYE shows at Blue Cat's... what I can remember of 'em.

And all I can think of is "Barataria Bay" on the Mississippi River near NOLA.

Well, I am happy it's not at the Bijou...does anyone know if it's a non-smoking venue? I loved Blue Cats, too, but it was always so smoky, I felt like I had smoked a whole pack without ever lighting up every time I went there...

I would assume that it is non-smoking. I can only think of a couple of places that still have smoking after the new laws went into effect.

Anyone checked this place out yet? I had a love/hate thing with Blue Cats, liked the floor area in front of the stage and the mezzanine but the back area by the bar was raised and seemed totally disconnected with what was happening on stage which, combined with UT "late nite hipster, out to be seen" crowd often led to some real annoying distractions. I am glad something is moving into the building, hope they do well and bring in live music acts other than the latest death metal bands Blue Cats ended up constantly booking towards the end.

"Folks,

The venue that hired Scott Miller & The Commonwealth for this year's New Year's Eve Show (2008) has closed up shop and left everyone hanging, unfortunately waiting so late to tell anyone that the chance we'll find another venue and have the time to advertise it properly has come and gone. I don't think I can even come close to expressing my disappointment in not playing Knoxville on New Year's Eve LIKE I HAVE DONE from 1990 (except for 2001) to 2007!!!! Way to kill a tradition, you weasels!!

(Somebody might be getting a piece of coal in their stocking and dog poop on their door knobs for Christmas! A-hem).

ANYWAY: Ultimate Commonwealth apologies to all who make a yearly pilgrimage and party likes its 1999 EVERY YEAR! If something comes up and a show can happen, we’ll let you know right here!

This really sucks..... This has been a yearly tradition that I always look forward to each year. Come on Miller......find a venue somewhere in town and lets bring in the new year as usual.... You don't need to advertise it properly....you have enough fans to support it.....

What are the odds Miller will take part in the "thing" on the Square for NYE? Or play Patrick Sullivan's Great Room? Or Back Room BBQ? Or even Two Doors Down or Brackin's in Maryville - who'd expect that!?!? I'm just not sure how to take on another year without the blurry headachy memories of the night before with the Scott Miller. Stupid people livin' 'round The Shed not allowin' shows to go on out there past 11:00 PM!!!
