anyone else thinking about this show opening for David Alan Coe at The Orange Peel?
I'm not particulary a DAC fan, but a buddy is, if he's up for it i may make it.
Glad to see Mic and boys coming back to Johnson City this summer.
Hey Wood, tell bro-in-law he's a smart guy and we had a good time at Jason Isbell show. and, book Les Honky's again.
The High Score played some new stuff at the Slobberbone show. Sounds good, really an outstanding live band in their own self, sort of PopKnoxPunk |

Yeah, I'm thinking of driving over the mountain for the DAC show. I have some other stuff going on that day, though.
I'll tell Tommy you all had a good time at the Isbell show. And we are super-stoked about having Mic and the guys back again. |

Saturday morning my wife Andrea & I were gonna drive over to McMinnville to see Miller play the cave, then hightail it over to Asheville for Mic & the High Score at the Orange Peel. For one reason or another, still totally & completely unknown to me, my wife waits until it's absolutely time to go to make it to the cavern in time to decide she has to do more stuff here in Maryville. We planned for a month to go to this show, got tickets, made arrangements for the kids & she decides to screw around & screw around until there's now way we can possibly make it in time. I just don't *^%$#@' get it!
So after I counted to ten, about ten times, & tried to gather my composure we ended up going on over to Asheville. Because of the rock slide on I-40 we took the 70 E detour - very scenic in both a beautiful nature way AND a "wow, I can't believe people live there" kinda way. And it honestly didn't seem to take any longer than taking the interstate.
I dropped Andi off at the motel & went on over to the Orange Peel to help the boys load-in. Doors didn't open until 8:00 & there were people already lined up outside at 5:00! After we got loaded in, set up & the guys started soundcheck I went out to move the van & David Allan Coe had just pulled up. He was still in his SUV but was mobbed by about 30 fans getting pictures, autographs, etc. I moved the van so he could have the parking spot & even after I walked a few blocks back he was still signing autographs. Very cool!
We went to freshen up & grab a bite to eat after soundcheck & got back to the club about 8:30. I don't think it was technically "sold out" but the place was PACKED all the way back to the soundboard & entrance. Mic & the High Score took the stage right at 9:00 & played to a very attentive crowd – they cheered them on during the set then came back to buy a CD & shake hands afterwards – very appreciative & it really put the guys in a great mood.
DAC took the stage, seated for the entire set, & scorched through a blistering set of classics. The other guys had seen him before but I hadn’t & I’m happy I finally did. My wife even enjoyed it & knew most of the songs because her daddy used to play them when she was little. Some DAC fans were a bit upset at the length of his set but for Christ sakes, the man’s in his early 70’s, how long did they expect him to play?
So anyway, we had a blast in Asheville. The staff & crew at The Orange Peel were super pro, as always, & they make everything so easy on the artists. We had some good grub & saw N. Iowa beet Kansas at Ed Boudreaux's & partook in a slew of Pisgah Brewery growlers of India Pale Ale & Porter… m,mmm! And it was nice to see Eric & Robin, Gator & Darlene plus all the new friends we met up later that night. Hope to get back to Asheville in late July - if anyone knows the folks at Mo Daddy’s call & tell them you want Mic & the High Score there on 7/30!!

Some JK guy posted this on the old V-Roys list:
"After playing over 50 shows in 2009, ranging from Boston to Macon and Little Rock to Raleigh, the guys took most of the winter off to record their third album. Helming production on this album will be Eric "Roscoe" Ambel (former member of Joan Jett's Blackhearts, The Del Lords, The Yayhoos, Steve Earle's Dukes, etc.) who's also produced albums for the Bottle Rockets, Blue Mountain, The Backsliders, Mojo Nixon and many more.
In my opinion, while the album is recognizably Mic Harrison & the High Score, I think there are certain songs that would have fit perfectly into other phases of Mic's recording career as well. It's been a blast from my end to see these guys working in the studio – from early mornings to late nights (and sometimes vice-versa), from Mic alone with his acoustic guitar to a room full of special guests and friends – it's really been something to see how an album gets made by a band that I've been such a fan of for many years.
After the album comes out, tentatively scheduled for late July, the band plans to stay on the road throughout the remainder of the year. If the band is playing a town near you please help us out by telling friends and coming yourself if you can. If you're reading this and the band isn't playing your town but you know a good venue and a good local band we could hook up with please let me know and I'll look into it.
I know the band is really fired up about this new album and hitting the road this summer. They've put a lot of time and effort into getting this album put together and we can't wait for you all to get it in your hands. If you can't make it out to a show please keep an eye out for the revamped micharrison.com coming soon. We'll have all Mic's CD's and swag available there plus tour dates and some other new stuff too!" |

| The boys went from recording studio to Chicago in the same day. Played a kick-ass set to a pretty enthusiastic and appreciative crowd at Quencher's that included a few of the new songs. Great to see everyone in the band having so much fun on stage. Tonight you folks in Louisville will be getting a great show. If you are on the fence about going....go! |

Good to hear about Chicago. Midwest should be a good area for them.
How'd that Roscoe Ambel connection come about? That's pretty cool. |

well I'm up for one or possibly both shows this weekend. They played most of the new album at the Johnson City show, so looking forward to picking up a copy, and hearing it again.
and The Town Pump is my favorite closet with a bar down one side, and Morristown is easy an I-81 run.
Isn't Morristown hometown of one lost c-shock? |
